Why do LUMI Candles use soy wax? 

Natural waxes such as soy wax are non-toxic, renewable and biodegradable, making it the best choice for those wanting candles that burn cleanly without the worry of indoor air pollution. Soy wax is also slow burning and an excellent fragrance carrier, which means you’ll get a longer lasting candle with a well-balanced scent that doesn’t require chemical amplifiers. 

Why does my LUMI Candle form a tunnel when it burns? 

Tunneling, or a “melt ring,” happens when a candle burns only from the center, creating a thick wax residue around the walls and edges of a container. To prevent this from happening, let your candles burn for at least one hour per inch of the diameter, or until the wax melt pool reaches to all edges.

What is the estimated burn time for LUMI Candles? 

Our candles burn for up to 40 hours. Remember, burn times are an estimate and can be greatly affected by the environment in which the candle is used. 

Why do LUMI Candles use wooden wicks? 

A wooden wick is toxin free and heats wax more evenly, helping you to achieve a more even burn over time. That means all the scent won’t be burned away during the first burn, and you’re left with a longer-lasting, clearer scent for each and every burn. 

How do I maintain the wick in my LUMI Candle?  

To maintain the wooden wick in your candles, be sure to trim the wick to .25 inches or 6mm before every use in order to prevent large flames or unable to re-light the candle in the future. If you don’t have a candle wick trimmer, you may use scissors or nail clippers to trim your wick.

Why has my LUMI Candle turned yellow over time?

Our candles are made with natural soy wax and contain no stabilizers or fragrance amplifiers, which means they may turn yellow in certain light, such as bright sunlight or fluorescent light. No matter the color, this will not affect or change the scent or degrade the candle in any way.
